A trip to Canada

HIGH WYCOMBE, England — The mother of a British man killed while fighting alongside terrorists in Somalia says families of would-be militants should take their passports to block them from traveling abroad.

Sally Evans’ son, Thomas, traveled to Somalia five years ago to join al-Shabab, a group linked to al-Qaeda, and died in June at age 25. Their story was the subject of a TV documentary called My Son the Jihadi.

This week, another mother of a terrorist from London made a similar plea for authorities to take passports to prevent loved ones from becoming militants abroad.

A son of Maha Elgizouli was identified this week as the fourth member of an Islamic State cell of Britons dubbed the “Beatles” by their hostages in Syria.
